We caved. Having bought a cheaper, similar mat from one of the large stores, we saw this playspot mat and instantly fell in love.
Living in a unit with a large pebble-dash balcony, we knew we needed something for the fine days. We were after something cheerful and happy - now we have two mats. This playspot one hits the mark - easy to quickly throw together (once you discover that there are corner pieces); happy colours; familiar faces; and, best of all, can be customised (3x4 or 2x6 - 4x3 & 6x2 as well, if you want to be pedantic like hubby ;) ).
The foam tiles have removable centres - either the coloured spots or the familiar Skip Hop faces. The foam itself is thicker than the cheaper mat we have (good on our balcony). There's a nice texture on the top of the tiles - good for the wee one to scratch and feel.
Where this loses one star is the joins aren't quite right - you feel as though you're trying to force a piece into a jigsaw. This means that the mat doesn't have quite the 'smooth' finish as in the photos. (Posted on 15/08/12)
